Srinagar is the summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and is the pride of the beautiful valley of Kashmir. Srinagar is famous for its lakes and the charming rows of houseboats floating on them. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits. Srinagar is located in the western part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, in the northern region of India. It is located in the Kashmir valley. River Jhelum passes through Srinagar city. Srinagar is 876 km north of Delhi. The weather in Srinagar is alpine. Summers (April-June) are mild and winters are cold (November-February). It experiences heavy snowfall in December-February

The climbing season in ladakh extends from mid - May to mid -October, The area most frequented by foreign climbers is the Nun-Kun Massif in the Great Himalayan Range. Among its six known peaks accessible from the Suru Valley, Nun (7,135m) and Kun (7,077m ) are the highest summits. Another popular area for climbing is Stok-khangri Massif in the Zanskar mountains, south of Leh. Among its known peaks, Stok-khangri (6,150 m) is the highest; it offers a spectacular perspective to the central expanse of the Indus valley which it dominates.
Other peaks in the area include Gulap Khangri (5,900 m), Matho West (5,950m) and Kantak (5,275 m). The much higher Konglacha peak (6,700m) lays south-west of Leh and is reached via Rubak on the first leg of the Markha Valley trek from Stok. Many unnamed peaks in the altitude range of 5,500 metres and 6,400 metres are also available for climbing in the same region. The famous Karokoram range lies across the Ladakh Range and the Nubra Valley in North of Leh . The most prominent summits in this range which are accessible from various parts of the Nubra Valley include, Saser-I (7,415 m), Saser -II (7,513m ) and Saser III (7,495 m).
Shrine is one of the oldest shrines of India, located at a height of 5300 feet on the holy Trikuta Hills of the Shivalik Hill Range. The Holy cave is 13 Kms from the Base Camp Katra. The Town Katra is 50 Kms away from Jammu and 35 Kms from District HQ Udhampur. The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is most popular Shrines of India. The Goddess Mata Vaishno Devi's abode is in 100 feet long cave with a narrow opening.
Bhumika Temple. 1-km from Katra, the Goddess disappeared. This place is called Darsani Darwaza because Trikut mountain is visible from here Tikuta Parvat is three high peaks that are abodes of the Goddess Vaishno Devi.
It is situated at a distance of 84 km from Gulmarg and is a picturesque destination with several mountain lakes like Kishansar, Gadsar, Satsar and Gangabal passing through it. You can drive here through the Sindh Valley.
It is a pilgrim tour of Hindus during the month of July and August every year. Here there is a Stalagmite in the form of Shiva Lingam formed naturally of ice. On two sides of this Lingam there are two more ice lingams - one of Parvati and another of Ganesha.
Katra - is the small town around 50 kms from Jammu. It is the entry point for the pilgrims visiting the world famous shrine of Vaishno Devi. The pilgrims are expected to take a trek of around 15 kms to visit the shrine from Katra. Although a tedious trek, it has scenic and picturesque surroundings with a climate that is pleasant enough to go with the faith of the pilgrims.

It is called Ban Ganga because the Goddess washed her hair at this place. Most pilgrims take bath here. You must show the slip you got near the Bus Stand in Katra to pass this point. Ban Ganga is about 3-km from Katra.
This is where the Goddess stopped for some time while Bhairon was chasing her. Her footprints are supposed to be visible on a stone at this place. Charanpaduka means "holy footprints." It is about 1.5-km from Ban Ganga at 3,380 feet.
When Bhairon entered the cave, the Goddess made a new opening with her trident and ran away. Ardh Kuwari is 4.5-km from Charan Paduka and 4,800 ft above sea level. After ardh Kuwari the path gets very steep for 2.5-km. From here it is another 1,500-ft climb to Sanjhi Chatt, and from there another 4-km to the carve.
The Sri Ram Temple is near Vaishno Devi cave. There is a Shiva-linga in a cave 125 steps down from the Ram Temple.
This temple is about 2.5-km from Vaishno Devi cave at about 6,700 feet.
Srinagar's riches lie in the form of the beautiful gardens that was cobbled up by the Mughal kings, who ruled India. The main endearment of these gardens lie in the scenic beauty around which they are built and the beautiful lakes that besiege them.

Patnitop Hill Station- Compared to the other tourist spots in the state Patnitop is no less beautiful or serene. If one is aiming to get away from it all for some time, this place is hard to beat. With all its beauty at a hill station, it is a charming plateau at 2, 024m. Picturesquely situated at a high altitude. Patnitop is a good starting place for many short or longer treks into the nearby mountains. An attractive one-day walk is to Shiva Garh, about 11-km from Patnitop at an altitude of almost 3,500 metres.
Adventure Sports-Patnitop is an ideal place for walks and picnics. Sanasar, 19-km away was chosen by J&K Tourism for major development. Situated in a Gulmarg-like meadow it has picnic spots around. The 6-hole golf course is being expanded to 9-holes.
